Making A Purchase
Making a purchase could not be easier. Just browse our store, and add any items that you wish to buy into the shopping cart. After you have finished your selection, click on ‘Cart’, ‘View Basket’ or ‘Checkout’ and you will be asked for the few details that we need to be able to complete the order. Placing an order with Spinning Jenny, whether on-line or mail-order, does not automatically oblige you proceed but we ask that you have the courtesy to let us know if you change your mind or have a problem.
We accept Visa, MasterCard and American Express. (If you are shopping from North America or anywhere else outside the UK, place your order and your credit card company will convert the transaction to US Dollars or your own currency.) Your payment authorisation will show on your bank statement for seven days only – actual payment, adjusted when necessary, is taken at the time of despatch. In the event of not being able to supply your order or you wishing to cancel it, no payment is taken but, on your further instruction, your authorisation can be re-activated. If a Payment Pending or Payment Not Authorised notice is received, no action is taken against that order..
Shipping And Handling
We endeavour to process orders within 5 days of receipt excepting Tuesdays, weekends and statutory holiday periods. They are sent via Royal Mail at First Class or Airmail postage rate plus a small charge for packaging materials. A Standard Shipping Charge is applied to all orders at point of ordering, the actual amount calculated and reduced, if applicable, at time of despatch. An additional charge is made for large, heavy-weight and long parcels, again calculated at the time of despatch, the amount being taken against your order payment authorisation. For UK customers, a Certificate of Posting, giving limited compensation in the event of loss, will be obtained for all orders of a goods value of £100 or more and can be made available to you. You should notify us if your order is not received within 28 days of posting and we will do all that we can to trace your parcel. As the cost would be prohibitive, we do not insure goods in transit. When shipping overseas, we are required by law to disclose the contents value and we will endeavour to minimize customs/import duty/local tax on your advice, but Spinning Jenny does not accept liability for any such charges.
Orders will normally be despatched to you within 5 business days except during holiday or unexpected closure periods notified at Stop Press on our Home Page. We understand International orders are generally received in under 14 days of despatch but again do not accept liability for delivery once outside the UK postal system.
Items not in stock are kept On Hold. You will be notified of items of your order that we are unable to supply immediately. You have the option to cancel your order or part-order if you would rather not wait. We reserve the right to ask you to re-order rather than hold an item On Remains.
Specific or non-catalogued items can be ordered for you. We reserve the right to take a 50% deposit payment on an order for an item that we do not consider to be a ‘stock item’, refundable only in the event of our agreeing to accept it into stock if you cancel the order.
We comply with ecommerce and mail order legislation and, with prior agreement, goods may be returned at your expense. We advise sending returned goods via Signed For delivery as we cannot accept responsibility for goods lost in transit. They must be unopened and in a saleable condition and, if acceptable, will be refunded (excluding shipping charges) to the original card-holder’s account. Returned Special Orders may be, although not always, subject to a 25% re-stocking charge. With regard to wool stock, because dye-colours can vary, over-ordered hanks or skeins cannot be returned.
For orders made from the UK and EU countries, the current rate of 20% VAT is added. All other orders are VAT free.
Credit Card Security
When the order is placed at our website, credit card numbers are encrypted using 128 bit encryption. They are only decrypted after they reach our computer. They are not held in clear text on any web site. You may also send your credit card information via telephone or snail mail, we are PCI compliant and bound by the Data Protection Act requirements.
We endeavour to guarantee your satisfaction with our service and product. All products supplied will be replaced if found to be faulty provided we are notified within 14 days. Any missing components will be supplied without charge. If there is a perceived shortage in a cross-stitch or tapestry kit, all components of your work-in-progress must be returned at your expense for inspection and assessment. Your project will be returned at our expense.
