Packing and sending to you

When you order, whether it is a weekday or weekend, we will do our best to pack and send your order the same day, or if you order after 4pm, we will pack it and send it the next day. We like to get things out to you as soon as possible, and if there is a problem with sending it, we will do our best to let you know. 'Sending' the parcel means that we either take it to the Post Office or the local courier shop. The courier may not pick it up until the following working day.

If you need something urgently - please do let us know in the order notes, or even better, give us a ring and we may be able to arrange a quicker delivery. We are also able to do some limited delivery within the Skipton area. As we no longer have a physical shop, we are unable to offer click and collect.

Shipping

We are pleased to be able to offer you free (UK) shipping with standard delivery (3-5 working days) on all orders over £50.00.

We try very hard to just charge shipping at a rate that reflects what it costs us to send it. We don't sting you for it by imposing an expensive flat rate - we try and match the charge to what you buy from us by weight and size/shape.

Orders under £50.00 have a standard cost depending on their weight and size. The minimum cost for most packages is £2.95 for standard 2nd class Royal Mail / courier shipping. If you are desperate for your skeins and cannot wait, please contact us first before ordering and we can quote you for quicker shipping.

Missing Deliveries

This one is really important.

When we hand the parcel to the Royal Mail or courier, we have no control over what happens to it. We suffer from lost parcels just as much, and we really do understand the frustration.

We prefer to use couriers because the tracking is better: Royal Mail letters / parcels have no tracking until they attempt to deliver it. And when they do, there is no proof / picture.

Any courier deliveries will be tracked. You are able to track the package either from the courier's own website or app, or via your order on our site. If it is showing as delivered, but you don't have it (please remember to set your safe places with all couriers - we cannot do that for you), please contact the courier directly to get a photograph of the delivery point before you contact us. We will always try and find it for you - but we have no additional insight into the Royal Mail or couriers.

If it is completely missing, then we will replace the items(s) where we can, and we will ask you to sign a document to confirm that you have not received it so that we can claim compensation from the courier.

Overseas Shipping (Non UK & NI, including IOM, Shetlands etc)

The changes imposed on shipping items to the EU, and the tariffs imposed by the US on incoming goods have made it near impossible for small UK businesses to ship abroad. If we have something you need and you are not in the UK, we can investigate on a case by case basis. Please email us, stating the product you are looking for and giving us your full postal address. If we are able to ship, we will calculate the costs. Please note - any customs or import tariffs are the customers' responsibility. Spinning Jenny is not VAT registered.

Outlying areas of the UK - Shetlands etc

We don't see why you should have to pay an exorbitant rate for delivery. Any packages set to you will be by the flat rate services such as the Royal Mail, unless you specify otherwise, and arrange it with us beforehand.

Packaging

We often vacuum pack items. If you haven't received vacuum packed items before (especially wool), this might be a bit odd when it arrives, but don't worry - all you need to do is open the pack and leave the yarn to spring back. We cleared the vacuum packing with Appletons themselves, who were considering it themselves, so there should be no problems.
